The Ministry of Interior reported that officers in Hawally Governorate are issuing traffic citations while placing clamps on vehicles that obstruct main and internal roads in a stepped-up enforcement action. Notices are affixed to the clamped vehicles directing owners to the Hawally Governorate Traffic Patrol Department to settle fines and complete release procedures. Any attempt to remove or tamper with the clamps without authorization exposes owners to additional legal measures, the ministry’s security source stated. The campaign addresses haphazard parking that disrupts vehicle and pedestrian movement in high-traffic zones.

Internal roads serving schools and government offices have seen particular attention because of heavy demand during peak hours, according to the Ministry of Interior. Vehicle owners must pay the stipulated traffic fine before the clamp can be removed from their car. The initiative seeks to promote adherence to parking rules and minimize inconvenience for other road users throughout the governorate.

This drive aligns with the Ministry of Interior’s ongoing Prevention and Safety traffic awareness campaign that runs throughout the academic year. A Capital Governorate security campaign concluded on October 15, 2026, produced 454 traffic citations within a total of 775 security and traffic actions, Ministry of Interior figures show. The same operation led to the arrest of 232 wanted persons and violators, including 111 wanted individuals and 104 residency or labor law offenders.

The Capital Governorate Security Directorate, working with Kuwait Municipality and the Public Authority for Food and Nutrition, also removed 51 abandoned vehicles during the sweep, the ministry said. Thirty-two vehicles sought by judicial authorities were seized in the course of the operation. Four individuals were detained for possession of intoxicants and four for gambling-related offenses in the same campaign.

Earlier traffic enforcement in August 2026 saw the General Directorate of Traffic record 67 violations and impound 63 vehicles plus one motorcycle across several areas, Ministry of Interior data indicated. Targeted offenses ranged from improper overtaking and failure to use signals to speeding and prohibited parking. Such repeated actions form part of a sustained national push to improve road safety and driver compliance.

Delivery vehicle operators have faced parallel warnings under the Prevention and Safety campaign, with the Ministry of Interior announcing that repeated traffic breaches can trigger two-month impoundment of motorcycles or cars. Sidewalk riding incurs a KD 30 settlement fine, while court referral for certain violations can result in up to one month imprisonment or a KD 50 to KD 100 penalty. The ministry has instructed companies to supervise their riders more closely to avoid such outcomes.

Owners of clamped vehicles in the Hawally operation receive clear instructions on the required steps at the traffic patrol department before their cars are released. The Ministry of Interior has emphasized uniform application of these rules to maintain consistent enforcement. Officials continue similar patrols in coordination with other governorates to address recurring parking and obstruction problems.
