The Kuwait National Guard announced that Amir Sheikh Mishal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, the Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, paid a surprise field visit to its personnel while they carried out the Isnad 4 exercise. During the inspection the Amir examined their state of preparedness in what the statement described as a kind paternal gesture reflecting his proximity to the military members performing their national duty. Senior military and security officials joined the Amir for the occasion as he addressed those taking part.
Al-Jarida reported that the Amir told participants he had come to surprise them in order to demonstrate that he was one of them both by virtue of his position and as an individual from the armed forces. “Today I visited you and surprised you to prove to you that I am one of you, in my capacity and position on one hand, and as an individual from the armed forces, and this honors me,” he said. “It pleases me to see my brothers the leaders in all military fields present today in the joint training and planning for the future and emergency cases.”
According to the National Guard statement the Isnad 4 exercise aims through its field applications to enhance the efficiency of support units. The drill also seeks to raise levels of coordination and integration between the participating elements while developing their abilities to respond quickly and handle incidents and emergency circumstances. Such objectives ultimately strengthen the National Guard’s contribution in assisting state agencies when required.
The National Guard added in its statement that the Amir’s presence among the participating personnel embodied the highest meanings of care and attention. It noted that the visit constituted a morale incentive for them to continue exerting effort and to further elevate their readiness in order to serve Kuwait and safeguard its security and stability. A similar Support 2 exercise was referenced in reports by Times Kuwait on an Amir visit to the National Guard headquarters in February 2026.
Kuwait Times reported that the National Guard was founded by the late Sheikh Salem Al-Ali Al-Salem Al-Sabah and functions as a principal component in supporting the country’s security apparatus alongside the army and interior ministry. In that February 2026 visit the Amir directed continued focus on operational readiness through field inspections, weapons maintenance and specialized training including helicopter operations. The force also carries out educational programs to reinforce national values among students according to the same coverage.
The National Guard statement highlighted that the surprise visit aligned with the leadership’s emphasis on maintaining high preparedness across military institutions. It reiterated that the exercise had successfully integrated elements from various units to simulate rapid response scenarios. Officials expressed gratitude for the Amir’s direct engagement with the troops during the drill.
