The Women’s Housing Affairs Committee at the Public Authority for Housing Welfare activated an online service for updating rental housing applications through the Sahel app in line with cabinet directives aimed at advancing digital transformation across government services. Kuwaiti women who hold existing applications will receive a notification containing a direct link to the update portal where they can submit current information and supporting materials. The committee stated that failure to complete the process within 90 days of the announcement will result in cancellation of the applications effective October 16, 2026.
Notifications sent via the Sahel application alert registered female applicants to the requirement and provide immediate access to the dedicated update service. The committee emphasized that prompt action ensures continued eligibility in the rental housing program administered by the authority. Officials integrated this procedure with existing digital platforms to reduce administrative delays and improve record accuracy for all participants.
The committee specified that updates must include a copy of the applicant’s civil ID card and nationality certificate along with marriage, divorce or death certificates depending on the applicant’s status. School certificates for children from the last two academic years are required in addition to a travel history certificate issued by the General Ports Department covering 2024, 2025 and 2026. Confirmation from the Real Estate Registration Department that neither the applicant nor her spouse owns property must be submitted together with a commercial registry certificate while a Public Authority for Disability Affairs document is needed if a family member has a qualifying disability and a salary certificate or PAHW equivalent is mandatory for employment status.
Housing authority figures cited in a Reuters report from September 2025 place the current number of accommodation requests at 105,000 with annual growth of 3 percent that is projected to push demand to 197,000 by 2035. The authority has conducted lotteries in recent months including one in April 2026 that allocated homes to 40 female citizens as part of ongoing distribution efforts. These measures coincide with the introduction of electronic payment services on the Sahel platform in June 2026 to further modernize applicant interactions.
The Public Authority for Housing Welfare continues to align its procedures with broader government initiatives that prioritize online services to handle the rising volume of applications more efficiently. Committee instructions direct all staff to monitor compliance with the update requirement and to process only those submissions that meet the full documentation standards. Related announcements on the authority’s website have similarly promoted survey participation through the Sahel app under recent housing legislation.
