The Ministry of Interior was notified by a hospital in Kuwait on August 3, 2026, about a Syrian expatriate in his 50s who had lost consciousness. The daughter of the man informed security personnel that the incident was the result of a fall from his bed. A security source said that the account provided raised several inconsistencies that led to suspicions of foul play.

The security source added that the Criminal Investigation Department has been tasked with handling the matter. Investigators will conduct a new round of interviews with the family members. The wife of the man is also expected to provide a statement during the reopened probe.

The man continues to receive treatment in the intensive care unit as the investigation proceeds. The security source did not provide additional details on the man’s specific injuries. The probe is focused on determining whether the coma resulted from an accident or another cause.

Public Authority for Civil Information figures place Kuwait’s expatriate population at roughly 3.3 million, many of whom are from Arab countries including Syria. The Ministry of Interior has not released the identity of the Syrian national or his family. Updates on the case are expected as the CID completes its initial review of the evidence.

The security source confirmed that the case began with a routine hospital alert but quickly escalated due to the doubts over the initial explanation. All family members will be given the opportunity to clarify their accounts. The outcome of these interviews will guide whether further action is taken in the matter.
