The Ministry of Interior reported that patrols from the Ahmadi Governorate Security Directorate seized a modified vehicle used for reckless driving in the Ali Sabah Al-Salem area. The identification process involved the Vehicle Movement Section of the Operations and Patrols Department, which utilized monitoring and field follow-up to locate the car. Once at the police station, officials filed a case against the owner for endangering the lives of others. The General Traffic Department’s Security Control Department then arrested the driver, who was subsequently sent to Central Prison.
The vehicle was crushed following the legal procedures, the ministry said in its statement. This step was taken under Article 33 bis of the Traffic Law, which permits such confiscations and destructions for offenses involving reckless or negligent driving. The law stipulates penalties of more than one year and up to three years in prison along with fines between KD 600 and KD 1,000. Courts can order the vehicle’s confiscation either on their own or upon the ministry’s request.
In its announcement, the Ministry of Interior highlighted that this is part of continued monitoring of social media and public reports for instances of dangerous driving. Several similar cases have been handled in recent weeks across different governorates. The approach includes coordination with local authorities to seize hidden vehicles and apprehend suspects promptly.
The ministry has documented multiple operations where drivers attempting to evade capture by concealing their cars in remote areas were ultimately caught. These efforts have resulted in both arrests and vehicle crushings as a standard outcome under the applicable traffic regulations. Public cooperation through submission of video evidence has aided in accelerating these investigations and enforcement actions.
A ministry statement indicated that reckless driving that endangers lives or property will face firm legal consequences. It noted that the General Traffic Department maintains active surveillance to identify and address such violations. Officials stressed the importance of road safety for all users in the country.
The campaign against reckless driving has seen consistent application of strict measures throughout 2026, according to ministry updates. Earlier incidents in areas such as Wafra and Jahra followed the same pattern of arrest, imprisonment and vehicle destruction. This consistent enforcement aims to reduce the incidence of dangerous behaviors on Kuwaiti roads.
