The Ministry of Interior has cautioned drivers against repeating certain traffic violations in an effort to improve road safety across the country. The General Directorate of Traffic specifically highlighted non-compliance with overtaking regulations and the deliberate obstruction of traffic flow on public roads as behaviors that could lead to court proceedings if repeated. Officials noted that such repeat offenses will prompt referral to the Traffic Court where prescribed legal penalties will be applied. This measure forms part of ongoing initiatives to enforce traffic discipline among both citizens and residents.

According to an awareness brochure issued by the General Directorate of Traffic, Article 36 of the Traffic Law addresses deliberate obstruction or impediment of traffic on public roads and carries a settlement fee of KD 20. Article 37 covers violations of overtaking rules and regulations with a settlement fee of KD 15. Vehicles may be impounded for a period of up to two months in applicable cases under Article 207 of the Executive Regulations of the Traffic Law. The authority urged all motorists to take these regulations seriously to avoid such consequences and maintain orderly road use.

The General Directorate of Traffic stressed the need for strict adherence to overtaking rules to prevent negative impacts on traffic movement. Deliberate actions that impede other vehicles not only cause congestion but also heighten the risk of accidents on major thoroughfares. A security source indicated that these types of violations have been identified as significant contributors to road bottlenecks in recent monitoring with cameras, patrols and drones. The campaign aims to foster better driver behavior and enhance overall safety for all road users throughout Kuwait.

This warning aligns with recent traffic enforcement campaigns conducted by the department in preceding weeks. In one such operation in mid-August the General Traffic Department impounded 115 vehicles for 30 days over overtaking violations according to its own report. The actions included both direct and indirect infractions with legal measures taken against the involved drivers. Such efforts demonstrate sustained focus on reducing dangerous driving practices that lead to accidents and delays.

In a separate campaign reported on August 24 traffic officers issued 67 citations and seized 62 vehicles as part of initiatives targeting overtaking breaches, lane violations, speeding and prohibited parking. The General Traffic Department indicated that these operations are part of continuous field work by the Ministry of Interior to strengthen compliance. Officers also targeted failure to signal before turning among other infractions during the sweep. The department has maintained such monitoring to curb reckless behaviors that endanger public safety.

Emergency Police statistics for the period between August 16 and 22 revealed that officers arrested 162 wanted individuals during security operations across the country. Additionally 86 violators of residency laws were detained while five suspects of drug use were referred to the General Directorate for Drug Control. Officers issued 1,932 traffic violations, impounded 51 vehicles and responded to 131 traffic accidents in the same timeframe with seven individuals found in abnormal condition directed to relevant authorities for further action.
