The Nationality Investigation Department launched its probe after observing unusual travel patterns involving the wife of a registered Kuwaiti citizen who is of Yemeni origin. The woman departed Kuwait with the couple’s children using Gulf-issued documents for a trip to another country four months after the husband had left. Detectives noted that the first names of the traveling children aligned perfectly with those listed in the Kuwaiti citizenship records despite the differing identities on the passports.

This observation prompted a detailed cross-check of birth dates departure records and family data that confirmed the travelers were the same individuals registered under the Kuwaiti file. The 57-year-old man had apparently used his alternative Gulf identity to exit the country ensuring his Kuwaiti name did not appear in departure logs. Authorities believe the strategy was designed to mask his movements and maintain the appearance of legitimate citizenship.

Investigators subsequently summoned the man’s purported Kuwaiti brothers who denied any familial relation according to the department’s findings. DNA samples previously collected from the man were compared with those from the supposed siblings at the forensic evidence department yielding results that excluded biological ties. Additionally the man’s name was absent from the list of heirs to his alleged Kuwaiti father’s estate further solidifying the fraud determination.

The Supreme Committee for Citizenship Investigation decided to strip the man and all 36 of his dependents of their Kuwaiti nationality following the compilation of evidence from travel records family statements genetic testing and inheritance documents. The entire file has been referred to the Public Prosecution for legal action. The department emphasized that such cases demonstrate the thoroughness of ongoing reviews into citizenship validity.

A source involved in the probe indicated that the case demonstrated there is no perfect crime as there is always some mistake or trace left behind. The source added that citizenship detectives followed every lead to connect the scattered details. This approach allowed them to compare family records against travel movements effectively.

Kuwait has intensified its citizenship verification efforts in recent years as part of a national campaign against fraudulent acquisitions. Gulf News reported on a separate but related case in which authorities exposed a forgery scheme spanning five decades and impacting 264 people through similar investigative methods including DNA analysis. These actions reflect broader government initiatives to ensure the integrity of nationality records across the emirate.

The current case highlights the role of cross-referencing multiple data sources in uncovering concealed identities particularly those involving Gulf nationalities and Yemeni origins that have appeared in past nationality disputes. The committee’s decision affects a large family network including 22 children directly tied to the man. Officials continue to pursue similar irregularities as part of sustained enforcement measures.
