Kuwait’s Meteorological Department has forecast extremely hot weather for the upcoming weekend with maximum daytime temperatures set to range from 46 to 49 degrees Celsius while nights remain hot to warm and coastal humidity climbs. Acting director Dhirar Al-Ali told the Kuwait News Agency that the pattern stems from an extension of the Indian monsoon low-pressure system accompanied by a hot air mass and prevailing light to moderate northwesterly winds. The department’s bulletin placed maximum readings at 46 to 48 degrees on Friday before an increase to 47 to 49 degrees on Saturday with minimums forecast between 31 and 34 degrees across both nights.

Al-Ali’s update to the Kuwait News Agency detailed Friday’s expected wind speeds between 8 and 32 kilometers per hour during the day easing slightly at night while sea states stay light to moderate with waves of one to three feet. The forecast for Saturday anticipates similar wind patterns with speeds reaching up to 32 kilometers per hour after dark and wave heights climbing to as much as four feet. Such conditions reflect the department’s assessment of sustained extreme heat that has defined much of the current summer season.

The weekend outlook arrives after Kuwait recorded maximum temperatures of 50 degrees Celsius on at least one day in late May 2026 according to updates from local meteorological observers. Kuwait holds the verified record for the highest temperature in Asia with the World Meteorological Organization confirming a 53.9-degree Celsius reading at Mitribah on July 21, 2016 that ranks among the top extremes ever measured on Earth. Data from the Kuwait Meteorological Center shows that July typically brings average highs near 47 degrees Celsius underscoring how the current forecast exceeds seasonal norms.

Official forecasts published on the met.gov.kw website indicate the very hot pattern with maximums around 49 degrees Celsius will extend into Sunday and Monday while humidity remains elevated over coastal zones. The center’s climate records place the all-time highest temperature for the month at 50.7 degrees Celsius registered in August 2012 offering context for the intensity of current conditions. Al-Ali noted that northwesterly winds should continue to dominate the flow through the period limiting dust but not the overall heat buildup.

Gulf national meteorological services have routinely advised limiting outdoor exposure during peak afternoon hours when such extremes occur an approach highlighted in regional heatwave analyses published earlier this year. The Kuwait Meteorological Center provides ongoing updates through its website including marine forecasts that align with the weekend sea conditions of one to four foot waves. This latest bulletin from the department via the Kuwait News Agency serves as the primary guidance for residents ahead of the weekend.
