The envoy noted that this stance aligns with Morocco’s diplomatic advances on the Western Sahara issue, where international support has grown for the autonomy initiative as a realistic solution consistent with relevant United Nations Security Council resolutions. Under King Mohammed VI’s leadership, Morocco has prioritized economic modernization as the cornerstone of its development model, creating an environment attractive to investors through political stability, advanced infrastructure and investor-friendly laws. The ambassador highlighted expansion in key sectors including automotive manufacturing, aerospace, renewable energy, the green economy and digital services as drivers of this progress. Preparations to co-host the 2030 FIFA World Cup alongside Spain and Portugal are expected to generate further opportunities across infrastructure, tourism, transport and sports-related industries according to his assessment.
Bilateral economic links have advanced markedly in recent years, with the ambassador reporting total trade exchange valued at 802 million Moroccan dirhams in 2024 and a 7.1 percent rise in Moroccan exports to Kuwait during the first half of 2025. Kuwait ranks as the third-largest Arab investor in Morocco, with its capital directed into real estate, renewable energy, telecommunications, financial services and tourism projects, a pattern that builds on earlier statements to Kuwait News Agency in which the envoy referenced cumulative Kuwaiti investments approaching 1.5 billion dollars by late 2025. These flows complement broader efforts to diversify economic cooperation beyond traditional areas.
Direct air links between Kuwait City and Casablanca have contributed to a surge in people-to-people exchanges, pushing the number of Kuwaiti visitors to Morocco above 38,000 last year. Two business forums held during 2025 in coordination with the Kuwait Chamber of Commerce and Industry brought together Moroccan economic delegations and local counterparts to explore joint ventures. Such activities have helped translate diplomatic goodwill into tangible commercial outcomes while laying groundwork for expanded collaboration.
The ambassador voiced hope that the forthcoming session of the Moroccan-Kuwaiti Joint Higher Committee, scheduled to convene in Morocco within coming months, will produce updated legal frameworks, fresh agreements and concrete cooperation programs across multiple domains. Earlier iterations of the committee, including the ninth session held in 2019 and reported at the time by Kuwait News Agency, established precedents for addressing trade, investment and sectoral partnerships at senior levels. Officials from both sides are expected to use the upcoming meeting to address evolving regional economic priorities and investment facilitation measures.
In closing his address, Ibn Issa reiterated gratitude for Kuwait’s ongoing support and extended wishes for the Gulf state’s continued security, stability and prosperity under its leadership. The event underscored the enduring nature of ties that have evolved through decades of shared Arab and Islamic solidarity.
