Officials expressed hope that closer coordination would serve the interests of both Kuwait and India while fostering stronger friendship. The sides agreed to maintain regular contact to convert the identified opportunities into concrete projects over the coming months.
This latest engagement follows the inaugural meeting of the India-Kuwait Joint Working Group on Agriculture and Food Security held on July 7, according to the Indian Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare. The working group was co-chaired by Dr. Jitender Singh from India’s Department of Agriculture and Mr. Abdulrahman Al-Fraih from Kuwait’s Public Authority for Agriculture Affairs and Fish Resources. Participants explored sustainable farming methods along with trade in agricultural goods and knowledge sharing to improve resilience against climate challenges.
India’s Embassy in Kuwait stated that the ambassador’s meeting with the minister reaffirmed the longstanding friendly relations between the countries. The embassy noted particular attention on supply chain stability as part of the wider strategic partnership framework. Kuwait has benefited from consistent Indian exports of fresh produce and other foodstuffs amid regional tensions, the embassy added.
The Ministry of External Affairs in New Delhi documented that seven new joint working groups were formed under a recently signed memorandum, including one dedicated to agriculture and food security.
