The Kuwait Volleyball Association has chosen a 25-player squad for the Arab Men’s Volleyball Championship scheduled in Jordan from October 5 to 15 with Argentine head coach Julian Alvarez and his staff making the selections. The association reported that the chosen players will undergo intensified training to elevate their technical and physical condition before the tournament begins. This preparation follows the recent resumption of the domestic volleyball season in September after a suspension caused by regional developments according to the Kuwait Volleyball Association. The domestic restart is intended to ensure players regain match fitness in time to support national team commitments.
According to the Kuwait Volleyball Association the squad features a mix of established national team members and newer additions capable of contributing immediately. The list comprises Abdulnasser Al-Anzi, Abdullah Al-Anzi, Abdullah Al-Muwainea, Abdullah Bouftain, Abdullah Al-Mulla, Nasser Dashti, Fahad Saad, Rashid Anbar, Ali Saadoun, Saud Al-Duwaisan, Talal Al-Salman, Mohammed Al-Dhafiri, Ahmed Al-Munees, Hussein Al-Masri, Khaled Bouarki, Bader Al-Attar, Fares Al-Sarraj, Barak Al-Anzi, Abdulrahman Al-Hashmi, Hassan Al-Qattan, Abdulrahman Al-Mutawa, Nawaf Al-Sanea, Abdulaziz Najm, Omar Al-Anzi and Ibrahim Mandeel. The association noted that this group was narrowed from a larger pool after careful evaluation of recent club performances and training form.
The Kuwait Volleyball Association has indicated that the squad will hold a training camp in Cairo as part of its buildup to the championship in Jordan. Such overseas camps allow for focused sessions away from domestic distractions and often include friendly matches against Egyptian clubs for competitive exposure. The association has used similar camps successfully in prior years to integrate new players and refine team tactics ahead of major Arab tournaments. Coaching staff will oversee twice-daily sessions emphasizing blocking, serving and defensive coordination during the stay.
Head coach Julian Alvarez and his assistants have already begun stepping up individual workouts with the selected players following the squad announcement on September 3. The Kuwait Volleyball Association stated that the coaching team aims to address specific areas identified during the recently restarted domestic league matches. Alvarez previously guided the team through qualifying stages and is familiar with the strengths of opposing Arab sides. The association expects the camp to accelerate the squad’s readiness in the limited time before the October 5 start date.
The Arab Men’s Volleyball Championship will bring together national teams from across the region in a round-robin format that tests depth and consistency according to the Kuwait Volleyball Association. Kuwait has participated regularly in past editions of the event and the association hopes the current squad can improve on previous finishes through better preparation. The tournament in Jordan aligns with the federation’s calendar that also includes future Asian competitions. Officials have stressed the importance of consistent international exposure for the continued growth of volleyball within Kuwait.
Earlier this year the Kuwait Volleyball Association restructured its domestic calendar to accommodate both club and national team schedules after the league suspension that ran from late February. The association approved registration for foreign professional players starting in August to strengthen club rosters and by extension the national talent pool. These measures have allowed several squad members to gain valuable experience in recent weeks. The association will monitor player performance during the Cairo camp to make any final adjustments before travel to Jordan.
