The Indian Dentists’ Alliance in Kuwait along with partner KDD announced that Pegasus and Gryphons secured the basketball titles following a series of competitive matches this week. The championship featured the three main teams of Pegasus, Gryphons and Sphinx displaying strong teamwork throughout the basketball segment. IDAK officials noted the high level of participation and sportsmanship that characterized the latest edition of the multi-sport event.
A report from Kuwait Times detailed how the prior 2024-25 championship concluded in December 2025 with the Blue Phoenixes lifting the overall trophy after two years of competition across numerous disciplines. That edition included basketball alongside football, cricket, volleyball and several indoor games with Green Dragons and Red Raptors also in contention. The current 2026-27 season has continued the tradition with refreshed team names and ongoing matches that build on the established format.
Earlier in May 2026 the same organizing body reported that Gryphons and Sphinx emerged as joint champions in the men’s volleyball category while Pegasus took runner-up. Pegasus also claimed victory in the women’s throwball event at that stage of the championship with Gryphons finishing second according to an IDAK update. Those results underscored the balanced competitiveness among the teams leading into the basketball phase.
IDAK President Dr Shalin Anna Simon along with General Secretary Dr Dilip George and other officials have overseen the championship through its various stages. The alliance has organized the annual sports gathering for years to foster fitness and community bonds among Indian dentists practicing in Kuwait. Additional support from KDD representatives including Anand Harith in trophy presentations has formed a consistent part of the event structure.
Standout individual performances have marked previous segments of the championship with specific players recognized for their contributions in volleyball and throwball. The basketball competition maintained that focus on both team success and notable contributions on the court. Organizers indicated that full results and individual honors from the basketball matches would be compiled in an official summary.
The IDAK-KDD Sports Championship serves as a significant platform for the Indian professional community in Kuwait with participation extending beyond players to include families and supporters at the venues. Previous editions have incorporated activities for children such as dodgeball to broaden engagement. Event records show the championship continues to expand in scope with new sports added in successive years.
