The Kuwait Volleyball Association has set October 22 as the resumption date for the Premier League after more than seven months of suspension prompted by regional security concerns that halted sports across Kuwait. League matches stopped on February 28 as part of a wider pause in domestic competitions that the joint committee headed by the Minister of State for Youth and Sports later addressed through a gradual return plan. The association coordinated the new timetable with national team commitments including the Arab Championship in Bahrain that ran from October 8 to 18.
Kuwait Volleyball Association officials reviewed options for the incomplete fixtures during board meetings and opted for a tournament-style conclusion to the 2025-26 season that maintains competitive balance among clubs. Secretary-General Talal Al-Nimash said the federation is keen to complete all remaining competitions in a way that ensures fairness among clubs and maintains an organized domestic calendar ahead of the new season. The Federation Cup and Super Cup will take place in early September under regulations the association plans to release shortly.
The Kuwait Volleyball Association approved final standings for all youth categories based on preliminary league positions after canceling remaining tournaments because of the extended break. Kazma captured the Under-19 title ahead of Al-Arabi and Kuwait Club while the same club added the Under-12 crown with Al-Arabi taking Under-10 honors. Kuwait Club claimed the Under-16 championship and Al-Qadsia won the Under-14 competition according to the federation’s final determinations.
National team preparation influenced much of the revised calendar with the association prioritizing international events before restarting club action. Al-Nimash explained that the Arab Volleyball Federation’s confirmation of the Bahrain tournament dates required adjustments to avoid conflicts with domestic fixtures. The federation has arranged an overseas training camp through the Public Authority for Sport to build player fitness after the long layoff.
International Volleyball Federation clearance allowed clubs to begin registering foreign professionals from early August providing additional time to strengthen rosters for the resumed league and upcoming campaign. Before suspension Kuwait Club topped the table with 20 points followed by Qadsia on 16 Al-Arabi on 15 and Kazma on 14 according to association records. The 10-team competition advances the top six clubs into a premier stage where group play decides the champion.
Resumption matches will be staged at the Volleyball Association Hall inside the Sheikh Saad Al-Abdullah Sports Complex where maintenance work had previously interrupted play earlier in the year. The association held a general assembly and consulted club representatives to finalize formats that balance local schedules with regional obligations. This return marks the end of a disruption that began amid broader Middle East developments affecting multiple sports federations.
