The Zain Premier League returns this week with Al-Shabab hosting Al-Jahra to open round 18 on June 11, Arab Times has reported. The fixture pits two sides in the bottom half of the table against each other, with Al-Jahra on eight points from 17 games and Al-Shabab on 15, as Al Kuwait leads with 43 points from the same number of matches, league data shows.

Standings from sports statistics providers place Al Kuwait firmly in first with 13 wins, four draws and no losses after 17 rounds. Al Jahra sits last with two wins, two draws and 13 defeats for eight points while Al Shabab has three wins, six draws and eight losses for 15 points. The gap between the lower teams highlights the importance of every point at this stage of the campaign, with several sides clustered around the 15-point mark.

The Kuwait Premier League, sponsored by Zain and known officially as the Zain Premier League, is the top tier of Kuwaiti football. Historical records show that Al Kuwait has won the title a record 20 times, the latest being the 2024-25 season. Al Arabi and Qadsia have each claimed 17 championships, according to league historical data.

Al Jahra’s poor season has left the club in a relegation battle, with the team having scored only 11 goals while conceding 38. A victory for the visitors would lift them off the bottom of the table and narrow the gap to safety. Al Shabab will seek all three points at home to solidify their position above the drop zone.

The league schedule indicates that round 18 was postponed from its original May dates and is now being played in June to align with the Asian Football Confederation’s timeline for domestic seasons. The Kuwait Football Association has confirmed the completion of the season in accordance with international requirements. This delay allowed for better preparation for the involved clubs.

Additional fixtures in the round will feature other key matchups as the competition intensifies toward the conclusion of the regular season. Teams in the upper half will look to maintain or improve their positioning for potential championship or qualification rounds. The full calendar remains subject to final confirmation by the authorities.
