The Ministry of Interior said the Criminal Security Sector’s General Directorate for Drug Enforcement arrested Talal Al-Humaidi Hammad Al-Ajil in the Saad Al-Abdullah area after investigations and field surveillance linked him to methamphetamine production that relied on smuggled chemical substances. The operation took place under the direct supervision of First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Fahad Yusuf Saud Al-Sabah. Al-Ajil was identified as a known criminal whose Kuwaiti citizenship was recently revoked.

Authorities recovered 30 liters of basic chemicals used in methamphetamine production, 3 liters of the drug in its pre-final stage and 6 kilograms of ready-to-sell methamphetamine together with various additional chemicals and manufacturing equipment, according to the ministry. The estimated market value of the confiscated substances reached approximately 500,000 Kuwaiti dinars. Officers also seized two firearms and several rounds of live ammunition at the site.

The suspect and all seized items were documented and referred to the competent authorities for legal proceedings, the ministry reported. Al-Ajil faces charges related to both manufacturing and trafficking of the narcotic. The directorate’s statement described the case as part of ongoing efforts targeting domestic production networks.

General Administration for Drug Control figures show that methamphetamine seizures across Kuwait totaled 36 kilograms in the first half of 2026, a sharp drop from 302 kilograms recorded in the same period of 2025, Times Kuwait reported. The decline coincided with intensified monitoring of smuggling routes and increased domestic enforcement operations. These statistics were published in local media reviews of the ministry’s anti-narcotics campaign.

The administration handled 1,228 drug-related cases involving 1,604 defendants during the first six months of 2026, reflecting a 16 percent decrease in cases and a 14 percent drop in defendants from the prior year, according to the same official data cited by Times Kuwait. Hashish accounted for the largest share of seized narcotics at 188 kilograms while psychotropic pills fell to roughly 656,000 from more than two million the year before. The ministry has previously noted that such operations aim to disrupt both supply chains and local manufacturing activities.
