The Kuwait Football Association Medical Committee Chairman Dr. Abdulmajeed Al-Banai will supervise medical tests and rehabilitation for Qadsia captain Bader Al-Mutawa following a hamstring injury sustained during the team’s training camp in Türkiye. The veteran picked up the injury in a friendly against Bahraini side Al-Khaldiya earlier this week. His absence will cover the club’s first two matches in the new Zain Premier League season.
According to the update, Al-Mutawa will miss the opening-round fixture against Al-Fahaheel next Tuesday and the second-round derby with Kuwait Club on August 31. The status of his participation in the third-round game against Al-Nasr on September 4 has yet to be determined. The league schedule places a pause after the third round to accommodate Kuwait’s involvement in the Gulf Cup.
Kuwait will compete in the 27th Gulf Cup in Saudi Arabia from September 23 to October 6, the tournament schedule shows. The Zain Premier League fourth round is set to begin following the conclusion of the regional competition. This break provides additional time for the 41-year-old forward to complete his recovery program.
Transfermarkt player profiles list Bader Al-Mutawa as having joined Qadsia in 2002 and amassed more than 300 league appearances along with 175 goals for the club. The Kuwaiti international holds his country’s all-time caps record, with over 190 appearances for the national team according to football database records. At 41 years old, he continues to serve as captain and key attacker for Qadsia.
The injury occurred at a critical time as Qadsia prepares for the domestic campaign. Dr. Al-Banai’s oversight ensures the rehabilitation follows established protocols from the Kuwait Football Association. Full fitness for subsequent matches will depend on the results of the upcoming assessments.
