The Public Authority for Industry has instructed all occupants of industrial plot setbacks that were previously licensed to vacate the areas without delay and clear any structures or materials present. This directive stems from Cabinet Resolution No. 740, which was approved during the Cabinet’s meeting No. 23/2026 on June 17. The authority has also assigned the Kuwait Municipality with the task of issuing temporary storage permits for zones located outside the boundaries of industrial plots.
According to the Public Authority for Industry, concerned parties must report to the authority to settle any outstanding financial obligations related to the use of these setbacks prior to the full handover of the sites. The move aligns with the provisions of Law No. 18 of 1987, which governs safety measures and the protection of public facilities and resources. Officials stressed that immediate compliance is required to avoid any unauthorized continued presence in these areas.
The Public Authority for Industry reported shutting down 39 industrial plots in early July for various licensing violations, granting violators a one-month grace period to rectify issues as part of its compliance campaigns. Similar measures in June saw the closure of 13 facilities and the withdrawal of six plots, according to an authority statement. The Public Authority for Industry’s ongoing inspections target improper land use and aim to improve the overall industrial work environment.
A ministerial resolution issued earlier in 2026 has provided a structured framework for such dispossessions and withdrawals of industrial plots, including notification periods and appeal opportunities. The Public Authority for Industry has emphasized that plots are designated strictly for industrial, craft and service purposes in line with approved regulations. Failure to comply can result in administrative closures and plot withdrawals as demonstrated in recent campaigns.
Industrial operators across Kuwait must adhere to these updated procedures to maintain their allocations, the authority indicated. The Cabinet’s resolution seeks to ensure that industrial zones operate within defined boundaries and safety parameters. All stakeholders have been urged to cooperate fully with the directives to facilitate a smooth transition and handover process.
