KUNA reported that His Highness the Amir Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah received Minister of Justice Nasser Al-Sumait at Bayan Palace on Monday. The minister introduced the newly appointed Undersecretary of the Ministry of Justice Awatif Abdullatif Al-Sanad during the audience. The meeting formed part of routine engagements between the Amir and senior state officials.
The Amir separately received Minister of Education Sayed Jalal Al-Tabtabaei and senior ministry officials the same day. They presented a report on the first-round examinations for the second semester of the 2025-2026 academic year for students in 10th, 11th and 12th grades. KUNA noted that the Amir congratulated the officials on the successful conclusion of the academic year.
During the education meeting the Amir commended the efforts of all Ministry of Education personnel and described teachers as the cornerstone of the educational process. He outlined directives aimed at advancing the sector through field follow-up to identify challenges and early preparations for the next academic year including staff qualification and school readiness. The Amir further stressed strengthening national identity values, enhancing creativity and innovation skills, improving the school environment and expanding the use of modern technologies and artificial intelligence.
KUNA figures from September 2025 place the number of teachers and administrative staff resuming duties for the 2025-2026 academic year at around 132,000. The ministry recently announced Grade 12 first-round pass rates of 91.69 percent in the science stream, 83.55 percent in the literary stream and 83.84 percent in religious education. These outcomes preceded the second-round examination schedules that the ministry set to begin in mid-July across the same grades.
Separately the Crown Prince Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah received the education minister and senior officials on Monday. They briefed him on examination organisation and measures taken to ensure smooth conduct across all educational districts including technical and administrative preparations. The Crown Prince commended the sincere efforts of the ministry’s leadership and staff in overseeing the examinations and ensuring suitable conditions for students.
The Crown Prince stressed the importance of continuing to work with a strong sense of responsibility and prioritising students’ interests to enhance the quality of education and its outcomes. He wished education officials and all students continued success and excellence. The Crown Prince also received Minister of Justice Nasser Al-Sumait the same day for the introduction of the new undersecretary Awatif Abdullatif Al-Sanad.
