The Kuwaiti Cabinet has condemned in the strongest terms Iranian attacks that included multiple hostile drone strikes on the Abdali border crossing last Thursday, a statement issued after its weekly meeting indicated. The Cabinet described the actions as a sinful aggression and a flagrant violation of Kuwait’s sovereignty that poses a direct threat to its security and stability while constituting a grave breach of international law, the United Nations Charter and Security Council Resolution 2817. It warned that the continuation of such repeated attacks amounts to a dangerous escalation endangering regional peace and affirmed the country’s right to take all necessary measures including self-defense under Article 51 of the UN Charter. The position was conveyed by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs Sherida Abdullah Al-Mausherji following the session chaired by Prime Minister Sheikh Ahmed Abdullah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah.
According to KUNA the Cabinet reviewed a phone call from Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman to the Amir in which the Crown Prince condemned the Iranian aggressions against Kuwaiti territory and expressed solidarity with the leadership and people. His Highness the Amir conveyed deep thanks and appreciation wishing the Crown Prince good health and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia security safety progress and prosperity under King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud. The Cabinet also noted calls from UK Prime Minister Andy Burnham who congratulated the Amir on assuming office and from Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi who affirmed Egypt stands firmly by Kuwait and supports measures to preserve its security and sovereignty.
The Cabinet expressed full solidarity with Saudi Arabia over repeated attacks by the Houthi militia on ships in the Red Sea including the latest on a Saudi company vessel as well as strikes on petroleum facilities in the Eastern Region and Riyadh by Iran-affiliated militias from Iraq. These incidents were labeled as flagrant violations of sovereignty territorial integrity international law the UN Charter and Security Council Resolution 2817. Kuwait stressed that the Kingdom’s security is an integral part of its own and that of the Gulf Cooperation Council states according to the statement.
Strong condemnation was voiced over repeated drone attacks targeting Jordan on Tuesday which the Cabinet described as unprovoked acts threatening the kingdom’s security and regional stability. The Kuwaiti Defence Ministry had earlier reported that the Abdali strike caused material damage but no casualties with air defenses intercepting subsequent waves of projectiles. Kuwait has faced multiple such incidents since early 2026 amid broader regional escalation involving Iranian strikes on Gulf targets.
In other business the Cabinet examined details of a new cooperation contract signed with China by Public Works Minister Dr. Noura Mohammed Al-Mashaan in the presence of Ambassador Yang Xin. The agreement represents the second such pact between the State of Kuwait and the People’s Republic of China. Officials presented the accord as furthering strategic ties between the nations.
This statement aligns with prior Cabinet positions issued through KUNA in recent months that have similarly denounced Iranian-linked actions and called for de-escalation through peaceful diplomatic means. The collective expressions of support from Saudi Arabia Egypt and the United Kingdom were highlighted as reinforcing Kuwait’s stance. The Cabinet’s review encompassed all these elements as part of its regular Tuesday session.
