Kuwait Club has received a timely boost from the return to full fitness of Moroccan star Mahdi Berhama and Ivorian midfielder Idrissa Doumbia, who are ready to rejoin the squad once sports activities resume, according to an Arab Times report on March 3. The pair sustained injuries in a February Amir Cup preliminary-round match against Al-Jazeera and subsequently missed the 14th-round Zain Premier League fixture versus Al-Shabab along with the Amir Cup quarter-final against Al-Nasr. Kuwait Club sits atop the Zain Premier League with 36 points, 12 ahead of its nearest rival and with nine rounds remaining.
Arab Times reported that several other key players have been sidelined by injuries in recent weeks, including Mishari Ghanem, Ibrahim Kamil, Mohsen Falah, Khaled Al-Kharqawi and Ahmed Alaa. The club aims to use the current break in play to prepare its full squad for the remainder of the season across all competitions. Berhama and Doumbia are expected to be available for selection as soon as activities restart.
The newspaper noted that Kuwait Club has already secured a place in the Crown Prince Cup final and the Amir Cup semi-finals while continuing its campaign in the Asian Challenge League. Its quarter-final against Al-Shabab, originally scheduled for last Sunday in Muscat, Oman, now faces uncertainty and has been tentatively reset for March 11 due to the suspension of sports activities in Kuwait since the previous Saturday.
