The Public Authority for Food and Nutrition reported that its Ahmadi Governorate Inspection Department conducted targeted inspection campaigns at food establishments throughout the governorate. These operations occurred in cooperation with the Ministry of Interior as part of ongoing regulatory work to enforce health standards and protect consumers. The campaigns resulted in the destruction of 500 kilograms of assorted unsafe fish together with an additional 25 kilograms of other non-compliant food items. The Public Authority for Food and Nutrition confirmed that all destroyed materials were unfit for consumption under approved specifications.
Inspectors from the Public Authority for Food and Nutrition documented seven distinct violations during the campaign. These included operating an establishment with an expired health license and displaying food items in front of the premises. Further breaches involved using additional spaces outside the licensed boundaries and failing to comply with general health requirements. The authority also cited the offering and sale of food items that did not meet approved specifications along with violations related to data on authority-approved cards.
The September 17 campaign by the Public Authority for Food and Nutrition builds on a joint security operation conducted in Ahmadi Governorate just days earlier. That effort by the Ahmadi Governorate Security Directorate in cooperation with the authority seized 500 kilograms of spoiled fish at the fish and vegetable market and parking areas of Al Kout Mall. The security campaign led to 38 arrests including 16 wanted individuals and 22 without identification documents in addition to 28 traffic violations and the impounding of five judiciary-wanted vehicles. Relevant authorities processed all cases according to their jurisdictions.
The Public Authority for Food and Nutrition has maintained consistent inspection activity across Kuwait throughout 2026 with comparable results in other governorates. In the Capital Governorate a separate September campaign destroyed 144.26 kilograms of unfit food materials after identifying spoiled products hygiene failures and licensing issues. During August operations in Farwaniya Mahboula and Mubarak Al-Kabeer the authority destroyed nearly 700 kilograms of meat unfit for consumption while issuing 80 citations for adulterated food sales and workers lacking health certificates according to its published figures.
Earlier in the year the Public Authority for Food and Nutrition executed a major intervention in Al-Ushayrija that seized almost 29 tons of spoiled seafood from a factory engaged in fraudulent practices. The April operation uncovered fish misrepresented as fresh and large quantities of frozen Iranian shrimp falsely marketed as Saudi origin with an additional 18 tons prepared for distribution. The authority closed the violating facility and initiated legal proceedings against those responsible while pledging continued nationwide monitoring of food supply chains.
