The Kuwait Volleyball League resumed on February 16, 2026 after a 37-day suspension due to the West Asia Clubs Volleyball Championship, with matches scheduled as the Kuwait Volleyball Association held its general assembly to elect board members, Arab Times reported. Qadsia added Pakistani Murad Jehan, Brazilian Caio and returning star Nasser Dashti to its squad.
According to the Arab Times report, the championship saw the hosts Kuwait Club finish in third place behind Qatar’s Al-Rayyan, which claimed the title, and Bahrain’s Dar Kulaib. The International Volleyball Federation detailed that Al-Rayyan defeated the home side in the semifinals before beating Dar Kulaib in the final to extend its dominance in the zonal competition. This regional event delayed the domestic league, allowing teams to focus on international representation during the break.
League standings prior to the resumption placed Kuwait Club at the top with 20 points, the publication noted. Qadsia followed in second position with 16 points, Al-Arabi held third on 15 and Kazma fourth with 14. Al-Sulaibikhat sat on 11 points, Burgan and Al-Shabab were level on 10 points with Burgan leading via set difference, Yarmouk had three points and both Al-Nasr and Al-Sahel remained on zero.
Off the court, Qadsia SC moved to reinforce its roster ahead of the restarted campaign by acquiring the services of Murad Jehan and Caio. The club also secured the return of star player Nasser Dashti, who had been absent for four months due to family reasons, Arab Times stated. These additions are expected to feature in the squad for upcoming fixtures.
The general assembly, set for 6 p.m. at the association headquarters, aimed to elect a secretary-general and a board member for the 2024-2027 term, according to the report. Talal Al-Nimsh from Kazma was the sole candidate for secretary-general while Ziyad Al-Enezi from Al-Nasr was unopposed for the board member position, leading to their election by acclamation. The current board is led by President Dr. Jaber Al-Mari of Al-Sahel.
Joining Al-Mari are Vice President Nasser Al-Enezi of Al-Jahra, Treasurer Talal Al-Adwani of Burgan, Assistant Treasurer Hamad Al-Bathali of Al-Sulaibikhat, Assistant Secretary Nayef Al-Khameeli of Al-Tadhamon, and board members Nayef Al-Failakawi of Yarmouk, Dhari Al-Arifi of Kuwait Club and Jassim Al-Failakawi of Al-Shabab, the newspaper listed. The assembly focused solely on these two vacancies. This process maintains leadership stability within the governing body.
The Kuwait Volleyball Association was founded in 1957 and has since promoted the sport domestically and internationally, its official website indicates. The national men’s league, which began play in 1965, consists of 11 clubs competing for the title, according to Wikipedia entries on the competition. Qadsia SC leads all clubs with 23 championship titles while Kuwait SC secured its 16th crown in the 2024-25 season, the reference source added.
