The Kuwait Volleyball Association dispatched its senior men’s national team to Cairo for a pre-championship training camp that included a friendly match versus the Egyptian club Arab Contractors. Association officials stated that the encounter allowed the squad to apply tactical lessons under match conditions while building cohesion among players who completed an initial domestic preparation phase. Assistant coach Zaid Al-Kadhmi, speaking for the association, noted that the camp marked an escalation in intensity following earlier sessions at the Sheikh Saad Al-Abdullah Sports Complex. The association added that the team would depart directly from Cairo for the regional tournament.
According to the Kuwait Volleyball Association, Argentine head coach Julian Alvarez oversaw the selection of 17 athletes for both the Cairo camp and the championship proper. The roster features Abdulnasser Al-Anzi, Abdullah Al-Anzi, Ibrahim Mandeel, Rashed Anbar, Abdulrahman Al-Mutairi, Saud Al-Duwaisan, Omar Al-Anzi, Barak Al-Anzi, Talal Al-Salman, Ali Saadoun, Abdulrahman Al-Hashemi, Ahmed Al-Manees, Khaled Bouarki, Abdulaziz Najm, Mohammed Al-Dhafiri, Fahad Al-Saad and Abdullah Bouftein. Dr. Jaber Al-Merri, president of the association, led the accompanying delegation that also comprised administrators, a statistician, fitness coach, physiotherapist and an international referee.
The Kuwait Volleyball Association reported that the Arab Men’s Volleyball Championship is set to run from Oct. 5 to Oct. 15 in Jordan, providing the team an opportunity to improve upon its fourth-place finish at the West Asia Championship held in Oman during July. Al-Kadhmi told the association that the Cairo phase would concentrate on advanced tactical drills while using friendly matches to expose younger squad members to higher-level competition. The association indicated that such preparation aims to address areas identified after the Oman tournament.
Kuwait Volleyball Association figures show the initial training block emphasized technical refinement, physical endurance and strength development through combined conditioning and tactical exercises. Al-Kadhmi added that the camp in Egypt would intensify those elements with a series of matches against local sides, including the one against Arab Contractors. The association described the friendly as a key step toward ensuring the team enters the championship with improved match sharpness.
In remarks to the Kuwait Volleyball Association, Al-Kadhmi said the current group includes a significant number of emerging players who require consistent exposure to strong opposition to accelerate their development. The association confirmed that the friendly schedule formed an integral part of the second preparation stage before the squad travels onward to Jordan. Officials indicated that post-match reviews would inform final adjustments to the lineup and strategies prior to the tournament opener.
