KUNA reported that Dajeej Al-Otaibi, president of the Kuwait and Arab Shooting Federations who headed the delegation, commended the squad’s strong display at the Grand Prix staged in Italy. Al-Otaibi highlighted Talal Al-Rashidi’s success in the trap event at the tournament run by the Italian Shooting Federation. The competition followed a training camp that formed part of the buildup toward the Asian Games set for Japan later in September.

According to a Kuwait Times dispatch, Al-Otaibi described the outcome as evidence that Kuwaiti shooters prove their capability daily and overcome challenges to meet national aspirations. He dedicated the result to the Amir, the Crown Prince and all citizens while noting the value of the preparatory camp held from August 15 to 27. The delegation wrapped up its involvement in the Nando Rossi Flying Target Grand Prix after the August 28-30 competition.

Al-Rashidi received honors from International Shooting Sport Federation President Luciano Rossi and officials from Italian manufacturer Beretta in recognition of his barrage victory after tying at 97 out of 100 targets. An ANSA report placed Giuseppe Gasparretti first overall with 98 while confirming Al-Rashidi, the 2011 world champion, topped the subsequent barrage with 23 out of 25. The achievement adds to Kuwait’s record of international podium finishes in Olympic trap.

Al-Otaibi expressed gratitude to Minister of State for Youth and Sports Affairs Dr. Tareq Al-Jalhama and Public Authority for Youth and Sports Director General Bashar Abdullah for sustained support that has bolstered training programs and participation. Kuwait Times coverage indicated such backing aligns with efforts to identify talent through domestic events such as the Sheikh Saad Al-Abdullah Olympic Shooting Academy championship concluded in late August. The federation maintains protocols with the National Guard and Interior Ministry to develop athletes for future global contests.

The Asian Games in Aichi, running from September 19 to October 4 according to Japanese organizing committee details, will test the squad’s readiness after this Italian outing. Kuwait secured three golds at the previous edition including in shooting events, per embassy statements on bilateral sports ties. Officials view the Grand Prix as a key benchmark within a calendar that also includes qualification pathways toward the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics.

Public Authority for Youth and Sports data underscores shooting’s popularity among Kuwaiti youth with recent local tournaments feeding directly into the national team pipeline. Al-Otaibi has repeatedly stressed that consistent overseas exposure elevates standards across trap, skeet and other disciplines. The Milan success therefore fits a pattern of incremental gains built on structured preparation and institutional support.
