The California-born retailer begins its Kuwait soft launch on Thursday, 15 October, ahead of an opening event a week later, as its expansion into the Gulf gathers pace.

Pacsun opens its doors in Kuwait today, Thursday, 15 October, with a soft launch ahead of an opening event scheduled for Thursday, 22 October.

The arrival brings a retailer rooted in California’s surf and skate culture into Kuwait’s fashion landscape. It also follows Pacsun’s move into physical retail outside the United States earlier this year, when it opened at Dubai’s Mall of the Emirates.

Photographs of the Kuwait store show a broad, grey-stone entrance beneath illuminated Pacsun lettering, with denim stacked along the interior walls and graphic T-shirts, sweatshirts and other casual clothing displayed across the shop floor.

The two October dates mark separate stages of the launch: today’s soft opening comes one week before the scheduled opening event.

From a California surf shop to Kuwait

Pacsun traces its beginnings to a small surf shop in Seal Beach, California, in 1980. In its account of the brand’s history, the company describes an evolution from coastal clothing into skatewear and, later, a broader streetwear business shaped by music, art and sport.

That history helps explain the mix now associated with the retailer. Denim and graphic clothing remain central to its identity, while collaborations have widened its reach beyond the surf and skate communities in which it began.

The brand’s Middle East website currently features names and collections including Fear of God Essentials, Formula 1, New Era and UFC alongside Pacsun’s own labels. The regional catalogue illustrates the breadth of the business, although it does not establish which individual collections are available at the Kuwait store.

For Kuwait, the opening brings that retail concept into a local physical setting, with the storefront photographs offering an early look at its presentation.

A wider Gulf rollout

The Kuwait launch follows an exclusive regional partnership announced by Majid Al Futtaim and Pacsun in December 2025. The agreement outlined plans for up to 20 stores across key GCC markets over five years, including flagship locations in Dubai and Abu Dhabi.

That figure is a rollout target, rather than a count of stores already operating. The announced strategy combines physical shops with regional e-commerce and events.

Pacsun subsequently opened its first international store at Mall of the Emirates. The Dubai launch included an appearance by singer Al Shami and contributions from a UAE-based group of 55 young creatives involved in developing the opening’s visuals, content and activities.

Those details relate to Dubai’s launch. A programme for the Kuwait event has not yet been provided, and the same appearances or activities should not be assumed.

Opening event set for 22 October

The immediate focus now shifts to Pacsun’s Kuwait opening event on Thursday, 22 October, following today’s soft launch.

The store’s arrival adds a Kuwait chapter to a regional expansion that began with Dubai earlier this year. For now, the confirmed local timetable is straightforward: a soft launch on 15 October, followed by the opening event one week later.
