The Peruvian Embassy in Kuwait marked the 205th anniversary of national independence with a reception attended by Assistant Foreign Minister for the Americas Abdulaziz Al-Qadfan, multiple ambassadors, diplomats, government officials and representatives from the business community. Ambassador Carlos Jimenez used his address to draw attention to Peru’s economic credentials, citing responsible fiscal policies, an open economy and sustained efforts to expand trade alongside investment. He presented the country as a stable partner equipped with abundant natural resources, an updated legal structure for foreign participation and an extensive web of free trade agreements.

Jimenez observed that bilateral relations with Kuwait have advanced at a brisk pace since the two sides observed the 50th anniversary of diplomatic ties in 2025. The ambassador encouraged Kuwaiti investors to examine diversified prospects for Kuwaiti investors across infrastructure, food security, mining, renewable energy, logistics, tourism, education, healthcare and digital technology. He indicated that fresh initiatives could sustain the positive trajectory established in recent years.

The ambassador explained that economic diplomacy extends past simple exchange of goods and capital to encompass trust-building, improved interpersonal links and the transfer of knowledge for collective gain. Organizers arranged a concurrent investment and trade fair to exhibit Peruvian items ranging from premium coffee and quinoa to other premium foodstuffs, customary textiles and mineral assets that include gold. The gathering provided a direct setting for participants to review potential collaborative ventures.

World Bank assessments have commended Peru for its track record of sound macroeconomic management that has supported resilience across Latin America. The International Monetary Fund has similarly tracked steady inflows of foreign direct investment, especially into the mining sector that contributes a substantial share of national exports. These underlying strengths complement the attributes Jimenez presented to his Kuwaiti audience.

Kuwait Times reported in September 2025 that the Peruvian Embassy issued a commemorative postage stamp to honor the half-century milestone in diplomatic relations. Historical records show the links were first forged in 1975, faced suspension during the Gulf War and resumed in 2011, after which cooperation has gathered pace. The embassy has maintained its focus on practical economic partnerships through events such as the independence day reception.
