The board of Al-Jahra Sports Club announced that the restoration of funding by the Public Authority for Sport will allow officials to sign necessary documents manage club affairs and address outstanding payments to players and staff. Yousef Karim Al-Enezi the club president stated that all related court cases have now concluded with full endorsement of the current board. This step follows a ruling by the Court of Appeals that confirmed the validity of the General Assembly which elected the board in February 2024 according to the club’s statement on its social media account.

The funding restoration addresses unpaid salaries and bonuses that prompted player protests in a September 2025 league match against Kuwait Club. During that fixture players highlighted four years without receiving their dues or salaries as reported in contemporary accounts from the match. The Public Authority for Sport had frozen support during the administrative conflict that involved competing claims to leadership of the club.

According to a framework the authority published in November 2025 comprehensive sports clubs such as Al-Jahra receive a fixed grant of 500000 dinars with potential for up to an additional 250000 dinars depending on age groups women’s teams and other factors. The authority requires sports bodies to integrate electronic systems maintain financial transparency and submit monthly reviews within 14 days of each month end to retain funding eligibility. This structure applies across 16 comprehensive clubs three women’s clubs and various specialised Olympic and non-Olympic entities.

Al-Jahra Sporting Club founded in 1966 as Al-Shuhada and later renamed competes in the Kuwait Premier League where it secured the title in 1990 and earned promotion from the second division as recently as the 2024-25 season. The club which finished 10th in the 2025-26 campaign also maintains teams in basketball volleyball boxing and fencing. Its home ground Al Shabab Mubarak Alaiar Stadium has a capacity of 17000.

Yousef Karim Al-Enezi added that the club works for the benefit of residents in the Jahra area even if it must rebuild from the beginning. He thanked the Jasser Al-Jada’i Law Firm and Attorney Mohammad Abdullah Al-Bader for their defense in the cases that affirmed the board position. Al-Enezi noted that the Court of Arbitration for Sport closed the international case after rejecting appeals against the president and other officials.

The resolution followed approvals from the Public Authority for Sport and the Kuwait Olympic Committee to enact rulings from the National Sports Arbitration Authority. Karim expressed appreciation to Minister of State for Sports Affairs Abdulrahman Al-Mutairi Kuwait Olympic Committee Chairman Sheikh Fahad Al-Nasser and Public Authority for Sport Director Bashar Abdullah for their roles in resolving the dispute. The club has reiterated that its facilities remain open to the entire Jahra community amid the strengthened administrative standing.
