Dr. Matar Al Neyadi, UAE ambassador to Kuwait, said the visit by President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan to Amir Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah falls within the framework of solidarity and support for the sisterly state amid regional challenges. The ambassador affirmed in a statement to reporters that the trip reflects the depth of fraternal relations between the two countries at the leadership and popular levels along with their ongoing commitment to consultations and coordination. Al Neyadi stressed that Kuwait occupies a special place in the hearts of UAE leaders and citizens while noting that the timing of the visit underscores their shared destiny and exchange of visions on multiple issues. He added that such high-level engagement demonstrates continuous coordination between the two nations at a sensitive juncture.
The UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs condemned the Iranian attacks on Kuwait and Bahrain in the strongest terms, describing them as a flagrant violation of sovereignty that threatens security and stability across the region. The ministry affirmed full solidarity with both countries and support for all measures to safeguard their security according to its official statement. Regional reports indicated the UAE president arrived in Kuwait shortly after the strikes which prompted alerts in Kuwait, Bahrain and Qatar with Kuwaiti air defences intercepting most threats and one person reported wounded. The president used the occasion to call for peace in the region.
Al Neyadi pointed out that Bahrain in its role as Arab representative to the UN Security Council submitted draft resolutions concerning the Iranian actions with consultations continuing among countries in the area. The GCC states issued joint statements denouncing the hostile practices directed at the region he noted. The ambassador revealed that consultations and coordination between the UAE and Kuwait proceed at various levels building on long-established ties that extend to the very founding of the GCC.
The ambassador highlighted that the idea of establishing the GCC originated in Kuwait with support from the UAE before gaining endorsement from other member states. He described the visit as the first by a UAE leader to Kuwait since the onset of the current tensions stemming from the Iranian actions. Al Neyadi explained that security cooperation among GCC states remains ongoing precisely because they share a common security outlook and destiny with any threat to one viewed as a threat to all.
GCC countries have reinforced coordination across security, military, economic, health and additional sectors which has helped unify visions and facilitate the exchange of expertise according to the ambassador. Al Neyadi expressed appreciation for the warm reception extended by the Amir which he said illustrates the high esteem in which the UAE president is held by Kuwaiti leadership. He stated that bilateral relations rest on foundations of mutual affection, respect and a shared history that continues to guide their partnership.
The ambassador concluded by expressing hope that security, peace and stability will prevail throughout the Gulf region and beyond. He emphasised that regular communication between the leaders of Kuwait and the UAE forms the cornerstone of Gulf solidarity and their collective ability to address shared challenges. Such engagement Al Neyadi added helps consolidate unity at times when coordination is most essential for the bloc.
