Zain Kuwait announced its sponsorship of the Kuwait Super Cup on January 27 at a press conference at the Kuwait Football Association headquarters. KFA President Sheikh Ahmad Al-Yousef Al-Sabah and Zain Kuwait Chief Corporate Affairs and Relations Officer Waleed Al-Khashti attended the event along with other officials. The sponsorship adds to Zain’s existing support for Kuwaiti football, which includes title sponsorship of the Premier League and backing for the national team during international competitions, according to the Arab Times.
The announcement highlighted Zain’s long-term strategic approach to sports sponsorship. The company focuses on empowering youth and fostering national belonging through enhanced sports experiences. Stronger organization, fan engagement and sustainable partnerships form the core of this strategy. Zain views the Super Cup as an extension of its partnership with the KFA that already covers multiple competitions.
Zain has sponsored the Zain Premier League, also known as Dawri Zain, for several seasons. The 2025/2026 edition of the league continues under this branding, according to the Kuwait Football Association. The company also supports the First Division League, the Amir Cup and the Crown Prince Cup. In addition, Zain stands behind the national team Al-Azraq in overseas fixtures and has been involved in events such as the Khaleeji Zain 26.
A Zain Group press release on the Khaleeji Zain 26 noted the company’s role as title partner for the regional tournament hosted by Kuwait. This involvement marks the second consecutive time for the branding. Zain aims to boost youth development in football and enhance Kuwait’s position in regional sports through such partnerships. The Super Cup sponsorship follows a similar pattern of supporting both domestic and regional competitions.
The upcoming Kuwait Super Cup will open with two semi-final matches. Al Arabi will face Al Qadsia in a historic derby while Kuwait SC meets Al Salmiya in the other semi-final, the announcement stated. These matchups are expected to draw significant fan interest from the outset. The games will be played at Jaber Al-Mubarak Stadium and Jaber Al-Ahmad International Stadium.
The choice of venues underscores the quality of Kuwait’s sports infrastructure. Both stadiums have hosted major national and international events in the past. This setup allows the Super Cup to meet the high expectations of local football enthusiasts. The Arab Times report indicated that the sponsorship will contribute to better organized tournaments.
The sponsorship is consistent with Zain’s corporate sustainability vision that uses sports events to promote Kuwait internationally. Such platforms help in developing sports tourism and increasing community engagement, the company indicated in the announcement. Zain has previously supported the French Super Cup when it was hosted in Kuwait.
