Kuwait’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs strongly condemned repeated Iranian attacks involving ballistic missiles and drones in a statement issued on June 6. The ministry described the strikes as a flagrant violation of the country’s sovereignty, security and territorial integrity that posed direct threats to civilians and vital facilities. The statement affirmed Kuwait’s full right to take all necessary measures to protect its sovereignty, safety and stability and to safeguard its people and residents.
The ministry’s statement, as carried by Arab Times, emphasized that the attacks came as the international community intensifies efforts to halt hostilities and prevent further deterioration in the region. It demanded that Iran immediately and unconditionally stop the attacks and warned that Tehran bears full responsibility for the breaches of international law, the UN Charter and principles of good neighbourliness. Kuwait also condemned similar Iranian attacks on Bahrain and expressed full solidarity with the kingdom while supporting all measures it takes to preserve its security and sovereignty.
In the specific incident, the Kuwait Armed Forces detected and engaged seven hostile ballistic missiles within Kuwaiti airspace, according to a military briefing reported by the newspaper. Some debris from the interceptions fell over residential areas, causing material damages without resulting in Kuwaiti casualties. The Public Authority for Civil Aviation temporarily closed the country’s airspace for two hours as a precautionary step, during which 11 flights were diverted, before operations resumed following confirmation that the threat had been eliminated.
This latest assault forms part of a series of Iranian attacks on Kuwait and other Gulf states that began earlier in 2026 amid the wider regional conflict. Arab foreign ministers had gathered in Cairo in March to reaffirm their full condemnation of the brutal and deliberate strikes that hit residential areas, infrastructure and diplomatic missions across several countries. The ministers described the actions as blatant aggression that spread fear among civilians and resulted in human and material losses.
GCC Secretary-General Jasem Al-Budaiwi likewise denounced the Iranian operations as blatant assaults on civilian facilities and infrastructure. He stressed that the security of all GCC member states is indivisible and that any violation against one constitutes a threat to the collective security of the bloc. Al-Budaiwi voiced the organization’s full support for Kuwait and Bahrain in all steps taken to defend their sovereignty and stability.
Multiple countries including Jordan, Egypt and Saudi Arabia have issued statements condemning the Iranian actions and expressing solidarity with Kuwait. Jordan called the strikes a dangerous escalation that breaches international law while Egypt reiterated its backing for all measures Kuwait takes to safeguard its territory. Saudi Arabia similarly offered its strongest denunciation of the attacks on Kuwait, Bahrain and Jordan.
