Foot Mercato reported that Mohamed Salah could ultimately sign for Trabzonspor rather than Besiktas. The French outlet stated on August 1 that the former Liverpool player is in advanced negotiations with Trabzonspor, which prompted Besiktas to suspend their pursuit. A verbal agreement between Salah and Besiktas had been reached for a one-year contract with an optional second year at €10 million net per season plus €2 million in bonuses.

Yagiz Sabuncuoglu has also reported on the developments, noting that Trabzonspor have now moved ahead in the race to sign the 34-year-old. The journalist highlighted that the offer from Trabzonspor improves upon the financial terms previously discussed with Besiktas. Reports from both sources place the Trabzonspor proposal at €17 million annually on a two-year contract.

According to the Foot Mercato article, Besiktas pulled out of the negotiations after the initial agreement stalled over the demands. This opened the way for the third-placed Super Lig side from last season to engage directly with Salah’s representatives. The updates came throughout the day on August 1 as the story evolved rapidly.

Trabzonspor president Ertuğrul Doğan denied claims of an existing agreement in statements carried by Turkish media. Nevertheless, the transfer specialists maintain that positive progress is being made toward a potential deal. The Egyptian star has been a free agent since the expiration of his contract with his previous club.

The situation marks another twist in the player’s post-Liverpool career path. Both clubs have been actively linked with the forward in recent weeks according to various transfer updates. Further details are expected to emerge in the coming days as negotiations continue.
