The Public Authority for Civil Information said in an announcement posted on its official website that visitor reception at the Jahra branch will be suspended for one day only to facilitate internal operations. The authority advised residents to complete urgent transactions at other branches or through digital platforms during the closure. Similar notices have appeared for branches such as Al-Ahmadi in recent days according to the authority’s published updates.
The authority’s published operating hours for the Jahra branch normally run from 7:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. for public reception with additional afternoon windows for card collection. Appointments are required for most in-person services and can be booked via the Metn platform or the Sahel application. The branch handles civil identification documents, residency updates and related records for residents across the governorate.
The Public Authority for Civil Information has expanded digital offerings through the Sahel application in recent months. A September 27 announcement on the authority’s site detailed a new service for adjusting residency article 7 bis status directly in the app. Earlier updates introduced features such as entity deregistration without requiring branch visits according to the authority’s news releases.
Public Authority for Civil Information figures place Kuwait’s expatriate population at roughly 3.3 million more than two-thirds of total residents a scale that places heavy demand on both physical branches and online systems. The authority has steadily shifted routine procedures to digital channels reducing counter traffic at facilities including Jahra. A PwC Middle East assessment of GCC digital transformation efforts has highlighted Kuwait’s residency and civil identification modernisation as an active reform area within the bloc.
The authority’s announcement for the Jahra branch follows a pattern of short targeted closures that allow maintenance while minimising disruption. Services at the main South Surra headquarters, Liberation Tower office and other governorate locations will continue under normal schedules the authority confirmed. Card collection points remain open during designated morning and afternoon periods even on days when full reception is paused.
Residents needing assistance during the suspension can still access the authority’s statistical data portal which received an update in July 2026 covering figures through the end of June. The Public Authority for Civil Information operates a central contact line at 1889988 for inquiries and directs users to its mobile applications for identity verification and transaction tracking. These tools form part of a broader effort to streamline civil services across Kuwait’s resident population.
