From Rashed Al Majid’s “Khudh Rahtak” to Majed Al Mohandis’s “Ameera” and the music of Riyadh Season, the Kuwaiti composer’s collaborations trace more than a decade of songwriting.

When Rashed Al Majid released “Bezammah” in January 2026, the song brought three familiar names together again: Turki Alalshikh on lyrics, Nawaf Abdullah on composition and Al Majid on vocals. The recording added a new chapter to a collaboration that, with this singer, dates back to July 2014.

For Abdullah, the Kuwaiti composer behind the melody, that continuity sits within a wider body of work. His collaborations with Alalshikh include songs performed by Majed Al Mohandis, Mohammed Abdu and Abdullah Al Ruwaished, alongside music associated with Riyadh Season. The story runs through the songs themselves: who wrote them, who composed them and which voices brought them to listeners.

Those roles deserve precision. In many of their joint recordings, Alalshikh supplies the words and Abdullah writes the music. Abdullah also writes lyrics on other projects, including the 2024 Riyadh Season song. His contribution therefore changes from one release to another, extending beyond composition when a project calls for both words and music.

With Rashed Al Majid, a relationship dating to 2014

“Khudh Rahtak” marked the trio’s first collaboration in July 2014, according to Al Jarida’s account of their recording history. Further songs followed, including “Mithl Qalbak”, “Ma Fih Ahad”, “Lorbama”, “Bokra” and “Allah Yesameh Galbak”. By the time “Beterjaeen” appeared in 2019, the pairing of Alalshikh’s lyrics and Abdullah’s melodies was already a recurring part of Al Majid’s repertoire.

“Beterjaeen” also makes the wider creative team visible. Abdullah composed the song, Adnan Abdullah arranged it and Jassim Mohammed handled the mixing. These credits describe different contributions: the melody gives the singer a musical line, while the arrangement shapes the instruments and accompaniment heard around the voice.

The same distinction appears in the January 2026 announcement of “Bezammah”. Alalshikh credited Abdullah with the composition, Seeroos with the arrangement, Tamer Faydi with the strings and Jassim Mohammed with mixing and mastering. Nearly twelve years after “Khudh Rahtak”, the lyricist, composer and singer were collaborating again, with other specialists contributing to the finished recording.

Majed Al Mohandis and the life of a song

Al Mohandis provides another substantial thread in their shared work. Abdullah announced “Ameera” in 2018 as a collaboration with Alalshikh, crediting Bashar Sultan for its arrangement. The song subsequently appeared in Al Mohandis’s February Kuwait 2025 live repertoire, whose released recording again names Alalshikh as lyricist and Abdullah as composer.

That journey from a recorded release to a later concert performance gives the collaboration a direct Kuwaiti connection. A song can acquire another life on stage, returning to audiences in a different setting years after it first appears. Here, the live release offers a concrete record of that continuity.

In October 2020, Alalshikh also announced “Wadaat Rouhi” with Al Mohandis and Abdullah. Its credits follow the same division between words and melody, with Zaid Nadeem responsible for the arrangement. Other shared titles in Al Mohandis’s repertoire include “Hodoo”, “Moshtaqlek” and “Intebeh”, giving the partnership a presence across several recordings by the singer.

One collaboration, several distinct voices

The official Nehma Studio catalogue places those songs alongside work for other established performers. Mohammed Abdu’s “Akhtait Fi Haqi” and “Okht Al Nahar”, Abdullah Al Ruwaished’s “Tebi Taaraf” and Abdul Majeed Abdullah’s “Tra Tha Alhal” all pair Alalshikh’s lyrics with Abdullah’s composition.

The catalogue also includes Ahlam’s “Al Forqa” and Asala’s “Al Farq Kbeer”. Together, these credits show the partnership moving between male and female voices and different performers’ repertoires. Each recording brings another interpreter to the combination of text and melody.

Behind that work is Abdullah’s studio practice. He founded Nehma Studio in Kuwait in 2013, establishing a professional base a year before the documented first collaboration with Al Majid. His work as a composer sits alongside that studio role, while the individual song credits identify the writers, arrangers and performers involved in each release.

Riyadh Season, and Abdullah as lyricist too

Their music also entered the repertoire associated with Riyadh Season. Al Majid’s 2019 song “Takhayal”, associated with the title “Qalb Al Riyadh”, combined Alalshikh’s words with Abdullah’s music. It brought their songwriting partnership into a setting where a recording accompanies the identity and promotion of an entertainment season.

For the fifth edition in 2024, Abdullah took on a broader creative role. Contemporary reporting on the season’s song credits him with the lyrics, composition and supervision, with Al Majid singing. Alalshikh shared the track publicly under the season’s “Say Big Time” branding.

The difference matters: Abdullah was both lyricist and composer on that particular recording. Its accompanying video used footage from previous editions of the season, placing his work alongside images of the events it represented.

The next date on the calendar

Riyadh Season’s seventh edition is scheduled to begin on 21 October 2026, following an announcement by Alalshikh. That provides the next dated event in this wider musical setting, although the opening announcement does not establish a new joint song by the two men.

For their recording partnership, the concrete 2026 development is “Bezammah”. It extends a catalogue stretching from “Khudh Rahtak” in 2014 through songs for Al Mohandis and other performers, with Abdullah’s composition remaining a consistent credit across successive releases.
