The Kuwait Volleyball Federation’s Competitions Committee has confirmed Al-Qadsia’s 3-0 win over Al-Yarmouk on February 23, overturning last Tuesday’s 3-2 result due to a rules violation involving the fielding of professional and youth-born players in the same match and placing the winners atop the league with 23 points tied with Kuwait Club. The federation further extended the player registration period until March 2 amid the ongoing 2025-2026 season.
The committee’s decision stemmed from Al-Yarmouk fielding professional and youth-born players in the same lineup, contravening league regulations. With the award of the 3-0 win, Al-Qadsia strengthened its position in the campaign. The league that began in September 2025 has featured consistent matches across its clubs, Kuwait Times reported at the start of the championship. Al-Qadsia followed the ruling with additional victories that reinforced its standing.
Al-Qadsia secured a 3-0 victory against Al-Nasr with set scores of 25-10, 25-16 and 25-20 according to the federation’s match records. The club then defeated Al-Shabab 3-0 by scores of 25-23, 25-17 and 25-17 in subsequent play. These results have contributed to shifts in the overall table as the season advances.
Updated standings place Al-Sulaibikhat on 16 points, Al-Arabi on 15, Burgan with 11 and Al-Shabab on 10, the federation’s tally shows. Al-Yarmouk sits with 5 points after the adjustment while Al-Nasr and Al-Sahel remain at zero. Competition continues in the lower table positions with several rounds still scheduled.
Fixtures listed for the day include Al-Nasr versus Al-Yarmouk at 8:00 pm and Al-Shabab against Al-Sulaibikhat at 10:00 pm according to the published schedule. These encounters are expected to influence qualification outcomes in the division. The top five clubs currently occupy favorable positions for advancement to the Premier League phase.
According to the federation the leading sides are Kuwait Club, Al-Qadsia, Al-Sulaibikhat, Al-Arabi and Burgan with the sixth qualification spot contested between Burgan and Al-Shabab. The extension of player registration to March 2 gives teams further time to complete their rosters for remaining fixtures. This adjustment was detailed in the federation announcement that accompanied the win confirmation.
The domestic competition follows the West Asian Volleyball Association event hosted in Kuwait earlier in February 2026. A FIVB report indicated that Qatar’s Al-Rayyan captured the men’s club title for the fourth consecutive year with victories over Kuwaiti and Bahraini opponents. Kuwait placed third in the zonal championship that wrapped up in mid-February.
