The Ministry of Commerce and Industry announced the findings from a recent inspection campaign in Ahmadi Governorate that its Consumer Protection Department executed with support from the Ministry of Interior’s local investigations unit. According to the ministry the campaign yielded 46 seizure reports for various violations and two violation notices concerning commercial licensing requirements. As a direct outcome eight shops were closed immediately when the discovered breaches met the criteria for closure under Kuwaiti laws and the ministry stated that “The campaign resulted in the issuance of 46 seizure reports for various violations, in addition to two violation notices related to commercial licensing requirements.”
The ministry stated that all necessary legal measures were taken against the violators through the coordinated effort of the two bodies. This included the issuance of the relevant notices and enforcement of closures where warranted. The approach aligns with procedures used in prior operations across different governorates.
In March 2026 the ministry documented 13 violations during an inspection in Hawally Governorate according to a statement from the Ministry of Commerce and Industry. That campaign carried out by an emergency inspection team highlighted problems with price regulations invoice issuance and origin labeling on products. Kuwait Times reported the details based on the ministry’s disclosure.
A larger April operation logged 93 violations the ministry said with inspectors identifying cases of tobacco gum sales and improper gold labeling among other issues. Those findings led to further closures and confiscations in the affected outlets. The figures demonstrate the scale of compliance challenges monitored by the department.
The Consumer Protection Department operates as a key unit within the Ministry of Commerce and Industry focused on upholding commercial standards. Ministry data from earlier campaigns show that licensing and pricing violations form a recurring focus of such drives. The latest Ahmadi results add to the tally of enforcement actions taken this year.
