The Embassy of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in Kuwait held a reception on September 23, 2026 to mark the 96th National Day attended by Kuwait’s prime minister, senior officials and heads of diplomatic missions. Saudi Ambassador Prince Sultan bin Saad bin Khalid Al Saud said the National Day carries special significance in Kuwait because the process of unifying Saudi Arabia under its founder began there. The ambassador thanked the Kuwaiti leadership and people for participating in the celebration of the occasion, according to local media reports.
Prince Sultan bin Saad Al Saud described relations between Kuwait and Saudi Arabia as exceptional with bonds that go beyond politics and economics to reflect more than 150 years of shared history and common values. The ambassador noted in a telephone interview that the depth of these ties cannot be fully captured in historical accounts alone. He pointed to the historic connection between Kuwait and the early efforts of King Abdulaziz bin Abdulrahman Al Saud as a foundation for the strong fraternal relations that continue today.
This year’s National Day is observed under the slogan “Our Pride Lies in Our Nature” which reflects core Saudi values including courage, authenticity and hospitality. The General Entertainment Authority launched the visual identity for the 2026 celebrations in July to ensure consistent presentation across events and materials, the Saudi Press Agency reported. GEA Chairman Turki Alalshikh called on government, private and nonprofit entities to adhere to the approved guidelines for all related activities.
The Saudi Press Agency recalled that the National Day commemorates the unification of the Kingdom achieved by King Abdulaziz after years of division on the Arabian Peninsula. The agency highlighted how the founder established a state defined by security, stability and prosperity that has evolved under subsequent leadership. Saudi Arabia continues to advance under King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman with the goals of Vision 2030 to build national capabilities and international partnerships.
GCC Secretary-General Jasem Albudaiwi extended congratulations to the Saudi leadership and people on the National Day, the Saudi Press Agency stated. Albudaiwi emphasized the Kingdom’s central role in strengthening cooperation and integration among GCC states while supporting regional security. He expressed hope that the occasion would bring continued prosperity to Saudi Arabia and all member states.
Similar receptions took place at Saudi embassies across the region including in Syria and Qatar where local ministers and officials joined the celebrations. The Saudi Press Agency noted that these events featured speeches, cultural performances and activities reflecting the Kingdom’s heritage. In Kuwait the program included displays of traditional arts that reinforced the shared cultural elements between the neighboring countries.
