The Public Authority for Food and Nutrition conducted an inspection campaign in the Ardiya Industrial Area that led to the destruction of 40.6 kilograms of unsafe food products. Inspectors identified seven violations at various food establishments during the operation. The authority took legal measures against the operators found in breach of regulations.
According to the authority, the violations included breaches of health and public hygiene requirements, expired health licenses, handling food without proper certificates and employing workers without valid health certificates. Several food items were seized after being deemed unfit for human consumption due to adulteration or other safety issues. The campaign focused on the industrial zone, which houses numerous food production and distribution facilities serving the wider area.
Data from the authority’s previous campaigns indicate a sustained focus on such enforcement, with one operation in the Mubarak Al-Kabeer Governorate between March and April 2026 resulting in the destruction of 36,500 kilograms of unfit food after inspecting 192 establishments. Similar actions in the Capital Governorate in September led to 108 kilograms of spoiled and adulterated items being removed from circulation. These figures underscore the scale of the authority’s monitoring activities across different governorates.
The Ardiya campaign was carried out by the Farwaniya Governorate Inspection Department and the Al-Rai Food Inspection Center. Cooperation with relevant government agencies ensured comprehensive coverage of the targeted sites. The authority has noted the importance of compliance among food operators to protect public health.
Residents in Ardiya have been advised through the campaign to pay close attention to the source and condition of food products they purchase from local outlets. The destruction of the adulterated items serves as a direct indicator of risks present in parts of the local market. Checks on expiry dates, packaging integrity and seller credentials remain basic steps to avoid unsafe items.
The Public Authority for Food and Nutrition scheduled the Ardiya operation as one element of regular inspection tours throughout Kuwait’s governorates. A parallel campaign in Qurain markets during the same period recorded 16 violations and the seizure of additional food items. Such coordinated actions cover 35 establishments in some cases while maintaining consistent standards in food handling and storage.
