The Ministry of Interior has introduced a service that lets users obtain electronic versions of their vehicle registration documents via the Sahel application. According to the ministry, motorists can keep the digital license stored on their smartphones for immediate reference during traffic stops or official checks. This addition reflects sustained work to digitize routine procedures and limit reliance on printed materials across government transactions.

A ministry statement described the feature as enabling users to maintain the electronic vehicle license for easy access whenever required. The development forms part of broader initiatives to expand digital services and streamline interactions for citizens and residents alike. Officials positioned the launch as one more step in reducing administrative friction for vehicle owners nationwide.

Kuwait Times reported that the Ministry of Interior incorporated 26 new electronic services into the Sahel app in March 2023. Those services covered driving license processing, residency renewals for domestic helpers, access to medical test results and several additional categories. The platform’s expansion allowed many transactions to occur entirely online, decreasing the volume of in-person visits to ministry facilities.

Recent technical upgrades at the Insurance Regulation Unit have supported further vehicle-related capabilities on the app. Accounts from Kuwait Updates on Instagram noted the reactivation of ownership transfer services in May 2026 after system modernization. Comparable adjustments in June restored renewal functions, illustrating incremental enhancements that maintain service reliability for users.

Individuals access the digital registration by logging into the Sahel app, authenticating their identity and navigating to the vehicle services area, the ministry indicated. The system then generates a downloadable electronic copy that can be saved on the device for later presentation. This format aligns with the ongoing transition toward paperless documentation in traffic and regulatory contexts.

The Ministry of Interior has rolled out comparable features in preceding months, including electronic driving authorizations and fully digital visa processing. These additions complement national digital transformation goals that emphasize unified platforms for public services. Such measures have particular relevance for Kuwait’s large expatriate community, which accounts for the majority of vehicle operators and benefits from reduced procedural hurdles.
