The Ministry of Health announced that Dr. Ahmad Al-Awadhi issued directives on Thursday to implement a three-month closure of a dental center. This followed the Medical Liability Authority’s decision after confirming professional misconduct by the Kuwaiti doctor serving as the center’s license holder and medical director. Specialized inspection committees had previously identified serious violations at the facility. The ministry responded with a temporary closure order and referred the matter in line with regulations on medical practice and patient rights.
The Medical Liability Authority operates as an independent body established under Law No. 70 of 2020. It examines complaints and reports concerning medical errors and professional violations through its specialized technical committees according to the authority’s website. The authority’s assessment in this case led directly to the notification sent to the health ministry recommending the penalty. Such processes support regulatory enforcement in both public and private health sectors.
This case adds to a series of recent enforcement actions by the ministry against non-compliant private health facilities. In April 2026 the minister issued decrees revoking licenses at two dental centers for serious regulatory breaches according to Kuwait Times. Earlier in July seven additional private facilities including medical centers and physiotherapy clinics were shut down after inspections uncovered violations such as use of unauthorized medicines. The ministry has maintained focus on inspection campaigns throughout the private sector.
Inspection teams from the ministry detected the breaches that initiated the legal proceedings against the dental center and the involved doctor. The case underwent full investigation and review before advancing to the authority for its expert opinion. The resulting three-month closure penalty applies to the entire facility.
Kuwait’s healthcare regulators have introduced further reforms to elevate professional standards across the sector. The ministry approved a new framework requiring all newly graduated physicians and dentists to pass national licensing exams before appointment to clinical roles beginning in 2027 according to the Council on Licensure Enforcement and Regulation. These examinations known as the Kuwaiti Medical Licensing Examination and Kuwaiti Dental Licensing Examination seek to standardize entry into practice.
The directives from Al-Awadhi ensure prompt execution of the authority’s ruling on the dental center. Affected patients have been advised to seek care from other licensed providers during the suspension period. The measure forms one element of ongoing oversight of private dental practices.
