Dr Amthal Al-Huwailah stated in a release to the Kuwait News Agency that charitable work in Kuwait represents a firmly rooted national legacy passed down through generations. The minister noted that the political leadership’s attention to charitable and humanitarian efforts underscores its central place in national policy and strengthens Kuwait’s international humanitarian role. She added that this approach has transformed from grassroots community support into a structured institutional framework focused on aiding the needy and preserving human dignity worldwide.
According to the minister, the Ministry of Social Affairs has advanced the charitable sector through updates to regulatory frameworks, bylaws and digital systems. Al-Huwailah pointed to a draft decree-law on charitable and humanitarian work as the next step in these developments aimed at reinforcing oversight. The proposed legislation seeks to improve governance and institutional standards across the sector.
Regulation and oversight will protect charitable activities, build public confidence and guarantee that assistance reaches its designated recipients, Al-Huwailah explained. The ministry intends to deepen partnerships with charitable societies and foundations while leveraging modern technology for greater efficiency and long-term viability. Such measures align with ongoing efforts to sustain the sector’s credibility both locally and abroad.
“Those working in the field of charity do not merely carry assistance, but a humanitarian trust and responsibility toward a person waiting for a helping hand,” Al-Huwailah said. She expressed gratitude to all individuals and volunteers who have upheld Kuwait’s tradition of generosity over successive generations. The statement coincided with observances for the International Day of Charity.
