The Public Authority for Food and Nutrition carried out the inspection as part of its ongoing enforcement of food safety rules throughout Kuwait. The tour identified various types of insects in multiple establishments in addition to repeated failures to meet general hygiene standards. Authority figures also listed improper food handling that bypassed required technical and health conditions.

Workers handling food lacked valid health certificates in several cases, the authority reported. Employers received violations for permitting staff to operate without those certificates. The inspections further cited the use of spaces extending beyond licensed boundaries and the running of facilities absent proper health permits from the authority.

These 32 reports stem directly from the single Friday tour in Hawally, according to the authority. The findings align with a series of campaigns the body has maintained to verify compliance and protect consumers. Such actions form a consistent element of the authority’s regulatory oversight in the governorate.

Earlier in 2024 the authority’s Hawally department inspected 474 food establishments during the month of June, producing 186 violation reports, the closure of 14 outlets and the destruction of 586 kilograms of unfit food. That effort, conducted under the supervision of officials including Abdullah Al-Kandari, uncovered parallel problems such as missing licenses, absent health certificates and hygiene shortfalls. The volume of activity illustrates the sustained scale of monitoring applied across the area.

The Public Authority for Food and Nutrition functions under directives from its director general to strengthen controls on food quality and safety. Campaigns of this nature supply data that guide refinements in enforcement practices nationwide. Related tours in Hawally during the same period yielded additional enforcement outcomes.

Later in October 2024 the authority seized 109.5 kilograms of adulterated meat and fish of unknown origin that had been misrepresented as fresh, its records show. Those inspections produced 27 violations and led to the administrative closure of three facilities. The authority has continued similar operations to address recurring food safety risks in the governorate.
