The Public Authority for Food and Nutrition has acted in Farwaniya Governorate to remove 56 kilograms of meat with no identifiable source from circulation. The authority’s inspection team identified the product during a tour of food establishments and promptly confiscated it for destruction under regulated conditions. This step reflects the body’s mandate to eliminate potential health hazards before they reach consumers across Kuwait.

According to the Public Authority for Food and Nutrition, the operation forms part of a pattern of intensified oversight in the governorate. An inspection there at the end of July led to the destruction of 195.2 kilograms of rotten meat along with citations for multiple hygiene and certification failures. The authority documented cases of adulterated food trading and workers lacking required health certificates in that campaign.

A late August sweep by the Public Authority for Food and Nutrition in the same area resulted in 88 kilograms of unknown-origin meat being destroyed and 10 violation reports being filed. Those infractions included dealing in falsified foodstuffs, improper overnight use of premises and lapses in general cleanliness protocols. The authority noted that legal proceedings would follow against the responsible parties.

The Public Authority for Food and Nutrition also targeted a market in Jleeb during August where approximately 100 kilograms of comparable meat products were eliminated after inspectors confirmed adulteration. Such coordinated efforts involve collaboration with the ministries of commerce and interior to cover a wider range of outlets effectively. The body carries out both planned and unannounced visits throughout all governorates.

Kuwait maintains stringent rules on food traceability that the Public Authority for Food and Nutrition is tasked with enforcing at every stage of the supply chain. Meat products must carry clear documentation regarding their origin, storage and handling to receive approval for sale. Violations trigger immediate removal and destruction of the items at the expense of the violators in accordance with established regulations.

Data from the Public Authority for Food and Nutrition show that successive campaigns this year have resulted in the destruction of hundreds of kilograms of non-compliant meat products across multiple locations. Similar actions in other governorates have followed the same procedures of confiscation and supervised disposal. The authority’s records indicate these inspections remain a regular feature of its regulatory activities.
