Kuwait Municipality teams towed 60 abandoned vehicles during a cleaning and inspection campaign in Ahmadi’s Fahaheel area on May 19, the public relations department reported. The operation also resulted in 27 violations, the removal of 15 loads of waste and 19 unauthorized posters as authorities sought to enforce regulations and improve public sanitation.
The public relations department stated that the campaign focused on multiple sites within the Fahaheel area to tackle issues of public cleanliness and unauthorized space exploitation. Municipal teams coordinated the towing of the 60 cars and motorcycles that had been deserted in various locations. In addition to the vehicles, 15 loads of accumulated waste and discarded tires were cleared from the premises. The department noted that 19 unauthorized posters were also taken down during the operation.
A previous municipal campaign in the Wafra area of Ahmadi Governorate removed approximately 330 tons of agricultural waste in January 2024, according to Kuwait Municipality figures published at the time. That effort employed specialized equipment to handle the substantial volume of farm waste. Current operations in Fahaheel incorporate both waste removal and violation enforcement in a single coordinated drive. The municipality has conducted comparable campaigns in other parts of the governorate throughout the year.
Recent operations in Kuwait’s Capital Governorate saw 99 abandoned vehicles towed and 87 violations issued along with 1,419 warnings, municipal data shows. Those inspections addressed cleanliness, road occupancy and illegal street vending across multiple sites. The Ahmadi effort forms part of this wider program of intensified field campaigns. Public relations updates confirm that such activities are scheduled to persist in all governorates.
The Public Cleanliness and Encroachment Department within the Ahmadi branch led the on-ground implementation of the May 19 campaign, reports from Arab Times indicated. In a separate recent action, that department cleared six unauthorized mobile carts and distributed ten warnings to operators. Cases involving non-compliant food trucks and other violators were referred to competent authorities for processing. The branch maintains active monitoring of industrial and commercial zones in the governorate.
Kuwait Municipality oversees similar initiatives through its branches in the six governorates, with public cleanliness forming a core component of its regulatory responsibilities. Figures from earlier operations demonstrate the volume of material handled in these drives across different regions. In Ahmadi, attention has centered on areas like Mina Abdullah and Fahaheel where joint campaigns with the Ministry of Interior have also taken place. A municipal statement following one such collaboration noted the identification of several regulatory breaches during field inspections.
