The Ministry of Electricity, Water and Renewable Energy announced maintenance inside the Hawalli Pumping Station that will cause a decrease in fresh water supply across three districts. Officials called on residents to prepare adequate stored water to meet household needs during the scheduled work. The operation forms part of routine network upkeep to sustain long-term distribution performance, according to the ministry.

The affected districts are Hawally, Al-Shaab and Al-Qadisiyah, the ministry reported. The maintenance will begin at 8 p.m. and continue for eight hours, after which normal flow is expected to resume. Customers facing any interruption beyond the announced period can contact the unified helpline at 152 for support.

The ministry’s water operation and maintenance sector monitors strategic freshwater reserves around the clock through the National Water Control Center in Shuwaikh. Ministry figures from mid-2026 show maximum reserves reaching more than 4,300 million imperial gallons in June, providing a buffer during planned works on individual stations. This oversight helps maintain supply stability even when specific pumping stations are temporarily taken offline.

Kuwait generates the bulk of its freshwater through desalination plants before distribution via underground reservoirs, pumping stations and elevated towers managed by the ministry. A ministry assessment found that routine maintenance on components such as the Hawalli station does not disrupt overall service when strategic stocks are managed according to approved plans. The sector also oversees brackish water networks used for blending, irrigation and other non-potable purposes.

Similar maintenance announcements have been issued throughout 2026 for sites including the West Al-Funaitees reservoirs and Abdullah Port complex, each prompting advance notice to residents. The ministry has consistently provided the 152 contact number for emergencies tied to these activities. Data published on the ministry website detail how such scheduled interventions support the integrity of the full distribution grid that serves all governorates.
