The Meteorological Department announced a weekend forecast featuring increased chances of light fog formation due to higher relative humidity levels, especially in coastal areas, as the country transitions into the autumn season. Daytime temperatures are expected to hover between 38 and 40 degrees Celsius on Thursday and Friday before moderating to 36 to 38 degrees on Saturday, according to the department’s bulletin. Light to moderate southeasterly winds will prevail throughout the period, accompanied by partly cloudy skies at times.
According to the department’s 48-hour forecast published on its official website, Thursday will bring hot and humid conditions with a chance of light fog forming overnight in some areas. Maximum temperatures are projected to reach 40 degrees Celsius while minimums fall between 21 and 23 degrees. Seas will remain slight to moderate with wave heights of one to four feet.
The forecast for Friday mirrors that of Thursday with similar hot and humid weather, the department reported, though the potential for fog increases during the night hours along with scattered clouds. Winds are anticipated to blow at 8 to 35 kilometers per hour from the southeast during the day before easing slightly after dark. No weather warnings have been issued despite the humid pattern.
Saturday is expected to see continued hot and humid conditions with the added possibility of scattered light rain or drizzle in the evening alongside the fog risk, a department assessment found. Winds will range from 8 to 32 kilometers per hour while nighttime lows drop to between 20 and 22 degrees Celsius. The sea state will stay slight to moderate with waves of one to three feet.
Dharar Al-Ali, acting director of the Meteorological Department, told the Kuwait News Agency that the current weather falls within the autumn season which experiences rapid changes as the Indian monsoon low pressure begins to recede. Al-Ali noted that temperatures decline gradually during both day and night while relative humidity rises at times, particularly over coastal zones, leading to greater chances of light fog formation. He added that some clouds will appear intermittently as air masses shift.
The department’s data indicates that such conditions are typical for October in Kuwait where humidity often approaches saturation levels near the coast, contributing to reduced visibility in affected areas during early morning and late evening hours. Motorists have been implicitly advised through the forecast to exercise caution where fog may develop. This update draws from the latest numerical models and surface charts released by the authority on October 15.
